Mike Whitmarsh, an Olympic silver medalist and a champion on the pro beach tour after leading the University of San Diego to its first major basketball title, was found dead Tuesday morning at a friend's home in Solana Beach.
The Medical Examiner's Office said Tuesday night that Whitmarsh, 46, was found in the garage of the home on Shoemaker Lane. Whitmarsh, who was married, regularly resided with family in San Diego, but occasionally stayed with the friend in Solana Beach, the Medical Examiner's Office said.
